Itineraries
Day 1
Date : January 13, 2027
Departure
Depart from Chicago on an overnight flight to Kenya with a connection in Europe. As you begin this extraordinary journey, prepare for an unforgettable experience that combines faith, meaningful service, breathtaking wildlife, rich culture, and lifelong friendships. Adventure awaits in the heart of East Africa!
Day 2
Date : January 14, 2027
Arrival in Nairobi
Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya's vibrant and welcoming capital, in the late evening. Meet your hosts, the Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) Brothers, who will welcome us into their mission community. After settling in, enjoy dinner and your first taste of Kenyan hospitality before preparing for the inspiring days ahead.
Day 3
Date : January 15, 2027
Begin the day with Morning Prayer and Holy Mass celebrated with the MOP Brothers, setting the tone for a meaningful mission experience. After breakfast, visit Divine Mercy Academy, a school built through the generosity of donors and friends from the United States. Spend time with the children and teachers, visit several local families in their homes, and walk through the surrounding village to the nearby Black River to gain a deeper understanding of everyday life in Kenya. These personal encounters offer a beautiful opportunity to connect with the local community and witness the resilience, faith, and joy of its people. Following lunch, spend the afternoon at the Good Shepherd Orphanage, a loving home for boys with physical and intellectual disabilities. Your presence, smiles, and conversations will make this one of the most touching experiences of the trip.
Day 4
Date : January 16, 2027
Start the morning with Prayer and Holy Mass alongside the MOP Brothers before returning to the orphanage to spend time with the children. Later, visit the St. John Paul II School and Medical Clinic, where the Missionaries of the Poor provide education, healthcare, and hope to the surrounding community. Together, we will prepare food parcels for elderly women from the nearby slums, serve a warm meal, and personally distribute the gifts. The day concludes with one of the most emotional moments of the journey as the women express their gratitude through joyful Swahili songs and traditional dances—a beautiful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting difference. Return to the mission for dinner and fellowship with the MOP Brothers.
Day 5
Date : January 17, 2027
Celebrate Sunday Holy Mass with the Missionaries of the Poor and the local community before setting out to explore some of Nairobi's most beloved attractions. Visit the famous Giraffe Center, where you'll have the unique opportunity to feed and photograph the endangered Rothschild giraffes while learning about Kenya's wildlife conservation efforts. Continue to the charming Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the Danish author of Out of Africa. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and views of the Ngong Hills, the museum offers fascinating insight into Kenya's colonial history and the story behind one of Africa's most famous films. End the day with dinner at the popular Java House, followed by time for shopping and browsing local handicrafts and souvenirs.
Day 6
Date : January 18, 2027
Depart early for the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, considered one of Africa's greatest safari destinations. Along the way, stop at the breathtaking Great Rift Valley, one of the world's most remarkable geological wonders, for spectacular panoramic views and unforgettable photographs. Arrive at your beautiful safari lodge overlooking the Mara River, enjoy lunch, and take time to relax before your first afternoon game drive. As the African sun begins to set, venture into the savannah in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, buffalo, and countless other species. Our experienced certified safari guides know the reserve exceptionally well and share fascinating insights about the animals, their behavior, and the delicate balance of this incredible ecosystem.
Day 7
Date : January 19, 2027
Wake before sunrise for an unforgettable safari when the African wilderness comes alive. Early morning offers the best opportunity to witness predators on the hunt and animals beginning their day. The Maasai Mara is home to the legendary Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros—as well as thousands of zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, gazelles, hyenas, and more than 500 bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Enjoy the swimming pool, take a nature walk, or simply admire the endless views across the savannah. In the late afternoon, head out for another exciting game drive, ending the day with a spectacular African sunset before gathering around the evening bonfire to share stories of the day's adventures.
Day 8
Date : January 20, 2027
After breakfast, visit a traditional Maasai village, where you will be welcomed with colorful songs and energetic tribal dances. Meet members of one of Africa's most fascinating cultures as they introduce you to their customs, traditional homes, family life, and centuries-old traditions that continue to shape their community today. Continue to the peaceful shores of Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya's most beautiful freshwater lakes nestled in the Great Rift Valley. Check into the elegant Naivasha Sopa Lodge, famous for its lush gardens where giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, and monkeys often wander freely. Spend the afternoon relaxing and enjoying the tranquil surroundings before dinner.
Day 9
Date : January 21, 2027
This morning, embark on a scenic boat safari across Lake Naivasha, home to pods of hippos and more than 400 species of birds, including majestic fish eagles, pelicans, kingfishers, and herons. Next, visit the spectacular Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, one of the filming locations for the Academy Award-winning movie Out of Africa. Since there are no predators on the island, you'll enjoy a unique guided walking safari, strolling among giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas, and antelopes while surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. This peaceful experience is one of Kenya's hidden gems and offers incredible opportunities for photography.
