It is a special opportunity to worship alongside the people we have come to serve and to experience their deep faith and joy.

After Mass, enjoy lunch together at the mission before heading out to discover Nairobi, Kenya’s vibrant capital city. Our wonderful local guide, Patrick, will take us on a journey through the city, sharing stories about Nairobi’s history, culture, people, and everyday life. We’ll see some of the city’s important landmarks, experience the energy of its busy streets and colorful markets, and have the opportunity to meet local people and get a glimpse of daily life in Nairobi.

This is more than sightseeing. It is a chance to experience Nairobi through the eyes of someone who calls it home, learn about Kenyan traditions and culture, and better understand the country beyond what we see as visitors.

After the game drive, return to the lodge to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. In the evening, gather around a bonfire under the African sky, share stories from the day, and enjoy a peaceful evening together.

Visit a local public school in Maua and spend time with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor as they care for the 45 children in their daycare center.  Meet the children, participate in activities, play games, and experience the warmth of the local community. End the day with friendly soccer and volleyball matches with local youth at the Brothers compound a wonderful opportunity to build friendships that transcend language and culture.

Kenya's Famous Tea or Coffee Country

Today we leave Nairobi behind and travel into the beautiful Tigoni tea-growing region, known for its lush green hills, peaceful countryside, and breathtaking scenery.

Our special visit will take us to a tea plantation founded by three sisters, where we’ll have the opportunity to learn about the history and tradition of tea growing in Kenya. We’ll see how the tea is planted, carefully harvested, and prepared, while learning about the important role tea plays in the local community and Kenyan economy. One of the highlights will be a homemade lunch prepared by the grandmother and founder of the plantation. We’ll gather together at the plantation, enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal, and experience the warmth and hospitality of a Kenyan family. The beautiful setting, wonderful food, and relaxed atmosphere will make this a truly special cultural experience.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to the mission and spend more time with the children at the orphanage. Through games, conversation, laughter, and prayer, we’ll enjoy our time together and continue building the friendships that have become such an important part of our journey.
