We love hearing about the experiences of our mission trip participants! Here are some of the reflections they shared with us.
“Before going on this trip, I thought that a mission trip was an opportunity for me to serve God’s children. I thought that I was going to give them something they needed. But in reality, they have everything that they need already. I am the one who needed saving by them. And that is exactly what I received on this mission trip to Kenya. Experiencing Chokaa is an experience that I would not trade for anything. While I was witnessing a state of physical poverty I have never been faced with before, the children living it could’ve fooled me for the richest people in the world. The big, hopeful brown eyes around me looked at me with nothing but love and faith. Their limitless smiles were something I will never forget. The people of the Chokaa community had a presence of the Holy Spirit in them that I have never seen before in my life. Although they were deprived of the materialistic “necessities” I have been relying on, they were rich with the Holy Spirit. How lucky am I to have the opportunity to witness God so closely and clearly!! Being able to see the beauty of God in His people, in addition to witnessing Him in the beauty of the country, is a gift I will always treasure. I will forever be grateful to Marta as my newest role model. She is truly a gift of God straight from Heaven. As I come back home, I am left with one question:
If everything in my life were stripped away, is God still enough?”
